Sweeties July Layout Sketch

Hi Everyone. If you haven't checked out Sweetie's Sketches Blog yet, you should try to. Each month there is a new card and scrap layout. I'm finding this is a good way to get back into my scrapbooking.

In saying that, I could have pulled my hair out finishing this page. It was all going well, until I went to put on this big rub on that said "Birthday Party". I know I've had these rub ons for a while but I was not impressed when some of it stuck to the wrong side of the sheet when I was getting it ready to use. Not only that but my second and third choices for rub ons as well. So in the end. I just took the whole backing sheet off and anything I could use I did before I dumped the rest. So the title is a bit of a collage.

You may need to double click on the photo to see the page larger. As per usual my photography skills are non existent. The page is from my daughter Logan's 3rd Birthday Party at Ten Pin Bowling. So here is the sketch and my page.

Supplies Used:
Card stock - Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White, Basic Black and the backing card from a DSP pack.
DSP - 3 different pieces from Raspberry Tart
Stamp Set - Baroque Motifs

Other - Paper Piercing, White Gel Pen, Material Flowers, Black Brads, Rub Ons, Die Cut from Hoppy Memories, Black Pen

Mojo Monday Week 96

Well I sure did miss the cut off with this card for Mojo Monday. I started making this last week as I needed a card for one of my besties's little boys birthday. When I started it, I was just trying to remember the sketch from memory as hubby was on the computer so it's not quite right but close. It's definately not the best card I've produced but what 4 year old looks at the card anyway hey...So here is the sketch and my card.

Raspberry Tart Pocket Card

Loving these pocket cards at the moment. Here is another I have made using Raspberry Tart DSP. Have a great day.

Makeesha's Inspiration Challenge #10 Card #2

Hello, finally getting a chance to load up a card I made on Sunday for Keesh's colour challenge this week. I was entirely happy with my first card so I made another. I have heaps of friends birthdays at the moment so all these challenges have come in handy. I won't load up the inspirational pic again, scroll down to previous post if you would like to see it. So here is the card, decorated on the inside again and inspired by Keesh's use of Pocket Silhouettes.

Makeesha's Inspiration Challenge #10 and Kellie's Sketch Challenge #1

Hello. I've had a few rotten days lately, culminating with my 18 month old son chipping his tooth yesterday arvo. I was so upset but the dentist can't do anything. I just hope it doesn't turn black. Anyway, I needed to chill out tonight so I grabbed out some stamping stuff and created a card combining two of my favourite crafters challenges they have going at the moment. Keesh has provided this picture for inspiration and Kellie has given us a sketch. This is Kellie's first blog sketch challenge and it was a tricky one. Kellie's deadline is tonight, so I apologise for the pic taken at night. So here is the inspiration photo and the sketch.
And here is my card. Did I get away with using Creamy Caramel for the hair which is similar to the cupboard in the background of the pic, lol. I'll try and add in my supplies later. Thanks for looking.
I think this card could also qualify me for the current Colour Create challenge too.

Pocket Cards

Well I have just been itching to use some of this gorgeous DSP from Urban Garden for ages and last night the kids went to bed super early, dinner was dealt with super early and I wanted to get to bed super early because I'm off to see PINK in concert tonight (as long as she doesn't cancel) but it was just too early to go to bed.... so I made this quick pocket card before I went to bed. The pocket card come from a tutorial on Splitcoaster Stampers and can be found here. I have pulled the little insert up for the photo.
I was really happy with how it turned out and just had to make a second one. This time I used some paper from Fall Flowers and here is that card. Thanks for looking, now off to do some housework, sigh :)

Mojo Monday Week 95 Card 2

I'm back with another card for the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. My first attempt and a picture of the layout can be found here. I made a Box in a Bag recently using Raspberry Tart paper and have now made a matching card using the sketch. It's my friend Vicky's birthday this weekend so I intend on filling the bag with chocolates and giving this to her. I'm still deciding whether to add a flower to the bag like I have done on the card but for some reason I just like the simplicity of the bag with no other trimmings. You can find the instructions on how to make these bags via this post.

Mojo Monday Week 95

Hello...I'm back with a card for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge for this week. As soon as I saw this sketch I new I wanted to make a card with it and I have finally had a chance. Things have been a bit crazy at my house with illness so it was great to make a couple of cards last night. So here is the sketch for this week.
And here is my card using Bella Rose DSP, card stock in Red Riding Hood, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White. I've used inks in Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip, Blush Blossom and Ruby Red (my substitute for Red Riding Hood). I've used some Kiwi Kiss/Very Vanilla ribbon, some paper piercing and used the scallop border punch and the eyelet border punch on the corners of the DSP. I've also added a strip of DSP in the inside of the card and some whisper white to write on.

Sweetie's Sketches July Card Sketch and Keesh's Colour Challenge #10

Hello again. I have a card to share with you following the layout for Sweetie Sketches this month and using Makeesha's colour challenge for this week. I really like these colours, would make lovely Christmas Card colours. The sketch I wasn't so sure on, not something I would usually use but thought it is always good to try something out of your comfort zone. So here are the colours and the sketch.
The card is made with a base of Always Artichoke and then some DSP from Raspberry Tart on the bottom and Mellow Moss card stock on the top which has been stamped with the little flower from Short and Sweet with Versamark. The corners have been rounded and some paper piercing added. A strip of Always Artichoke and Rose Red is across the middle with some faux stitching to follow the sketch. Material flowers have been added to the side with a brad and a scallop circle with the greeting Birthday Wishes. The photo makes the material flower look white, however it is cream in real life. I've also decorated the inside too.

Makeesha's Sketch Challenge #10

Keesh is back with a sketch challenge for us this week. I think I will need to have another attempt at this one. My card just wasn't doing what I wanted it to do!!!! (my daughter says things like that all the time). The card is desperately yelling I NEED RIBBON but I didn't check my supplies in anything those colours before I started. Anyway, here is the sketch...
And my card for a baby shower, maybe..... Gees, I'm a tad out with that sketch too, lol.

Exciting News

Well, I have just returned home after 5 nights at our holiday home on Fraser Island. Just in time as the weather started to turn a bit yikky today. I had some very exciting news when my mobile came back into range on my way home. One of my besties Mel, had her 2nd bubba while I was away. I had a feeling something may have happened while I was gone but as she was still a couple of weeks off being due I thought I was probably being ambitious. Anyway, I'm yet to hear all the details first hand, but little Gracey Elizabeth wasn't mucking around and was born before Mel reached her intended hospital destination. I can't wait to hear the full story. So congrats Mel and Dunc and little Emy on your new baby daughter and sister.

The main reason I went over to Fraser was for a combined 40th party for some good friends of ours Craig and Shaun. We had a lovely day up at Eli Creek. They couldn't have picked a nicer day if they tried. Here is a pic of the birthday boys and their better halves Katrina and Amanda. (Hi Trina, if you still check out my blog).
This also presented a great excuse for my dear buddy Tina, her husband Dave (Sean's brother) and their little man Wil to come and stay with us. Here they are up at Eli Creek.
Logan and Kyan loved playing with Wil. I think Kyan enjoyed having a big brother and followed Wil around like a bad smell. Here they all are on our lounge over there.
I also had a muck around with my camera in the backyard over there the other day. We had 4 Kookaburras that kept hanging out in our yard. Here is a couple of pics of them and a pic of a banksia. Well that's it for me. Off to feed my little man and off to bed. Bye bye.

Mojo Monday (Sort Of) Week 93

Hello, just a quick card I started last night and finished today. It started off with the plan to follow the Mojo Monday sketch however, if I had of kept going, the card would have been half the size of a manila folder, so I kept it square and not rectangle in the end, you'll see what I mean in a minute. I also used my new Sugar Nellie stamp "Luvvie". I'm really enjoying colouring and these cute little stamps. So here is the sketch and my card.

I've used Stazon ink on watercolour paper for the image. Inks are Purely Pomegranate, Baja Breeze, Close to Cocoa, Blush Blossom and a teeny bit of Kiwi Kiss for the leaves. Card stock in Baja Breeze, Purely Pomegranate and Whisper White. Some Chocolate Chip ribbon, some heart eyelets and the Wish Big stamp from Short and Sweet and the background stamp from Oh So Lovely. DSP is from Urban Garden.

A Big Thank You Blog Friends

Well folks, how quickly a year flies by.... This Saturday is exactly 12 months since my first blog post. I look back at my first card for a K Werner colour challenge and squint my eyes. I definitely think I have improved a little. I have really enjoyed my time blogging and I know I have invested far too many hours into blog surfing but I just convince myself it's my hobby and I'll surf if I want to.

For those who don't know me, I have a beautiful 17 month old son Kyan, who for some reason has been unfortunate to have food intolerance issues. It has been quite a struggle for our little family at times, as Kyan at present, can only have a special formula which you cannot be allergic or intolerant to. The downside is it tastes awful and he has a feeding tube which we need to feed anything he doesn't take himself (which most times is not much at all) down. He is fed 5 times a day which means his last feed is around 10.30-11 at night. Quite often I am doing my blog surfing or making cards when I'm waiting up for his last feed. So, I guess I'm trying to say that I really enjoy checking out all the great blogs out there and playing along in challenges. It has made this challenging time in my life a little easier.

So, not only is this my 12 month anniversary, this is also POST NUMBER 100 for me. In the last 12 months I have been fortunate to win a few challenges and some blog candy along the way. It's such a lovely thing getting that little parcel rocking up to you in the post isn't it? So to celebrate my blogaversary and 100 posts I have a little something to give away. It won't be anything super flash, just some brads, eyelets and other crafting nick knacks. I'm still organising the prize and will post a picture soon. To win, all you need to do if leave a comment on this post and tell me your favourite technique (I'm always keen to try new things out and if you like, you can leave a link to your blog showing a card/scrap page using that technique). That's it...no need to link a post to your blog, no need to be a follower. In saying that, I am going to add the follower feature to my blog if you want to follow my adventures. I hadn't bothered before because I didn't think anyone besides my friends would want to follow me, but since I have 3 followers already without the feature, I though I should add it.

Well that sure has been a big long winded post from me. Entries for my little giveaway will end at midnight on the 21st of July and I'll use Random Org to pick a winner and notify on 22nd of July, all going well. I'll be back with a picture of the prize soon but I am going away Friday for a few days so if it doesn't happen tomorrow, it will be next week. If you got this far, give yourself a pat on the back...phew....
