Gina's June Sketch Challenge #2

Last night while watching the movie "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", which by the way was pretty good (hard not to take your eyes off Brad Pitt), I made another card for Gina's sketch challenge (click here for the previous post showing the layout). Again I decorated the inside as well. Thanks for looking :)

Gina's June Sketch Challenge

I missed playing along with Gina's challenge last month so I wanted to make sure I didn't miss the deadline this month. Gina has given us this sketch to work with.

For this card I used some of the images I had stamped at one of Gina's open stamp nights. Instead of ribbon I have used linen thread. I've also done some scalloped edges, paper piercing and used some gold brads. I've also decorated the inside of the card, something I hope to do more of as I think it just makes it that extra bit special. The sentiment says "Have A Great Day" and I know just the person I'm giving it to for her birthday coming up soon. Thanks for the challenge Gina. I liked this simple sketch and may attempt another card too as I have lots of friends with birthdays coming up.

Gina's April Challenge

Brown + Pink = Baby Girl Card!!! As soon as I read the instructions for Gina's challenge this month, it screamed baby girl card and since I have a few friends expecting, it won't hurt to start stocking up on baby cards again. This month Gina challenged us to making a card using the sketch below but we also had to use the colours Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, Close to Cocoa and Whisper White, mmm some of my favourites. I really like the way this card turned out although the photo really doesn't do it justice. I might try and take another one tomorrow. The little bootie and sentiment are both raised up off the card. Gina's February Challenge

Yeah!!! my friend Gina is back after the Christmas break with a new challenge for us. This month Gina asked us to make a card using the following layout and the card needed to feature patterned paper on it and a sentiment. So here is my card. I'm really happy with how this one turned out. My photography is still dodgy. The sentiment says "You are one of a Kind".

I have used all Stampin' Up supplies except the colouring in on the flower which is some random watercolour pencil I have. Here are the rest of the supplies.

Gina's October Challenges

Gina challenged us again this month with another sketch and colour challenge. I even managed to be able to participate in the sketch this month after my disasterous attempt last month that ended in the bin. So here is the sketch template, however you didn't have to use a versamarked background or the ripped vellum just follow the layout. I liked it however and came up with 2 cards, a baby boy card which will come in handy as a friend of mine just had a little boy and also the card I made for the K Werner challenge displayed earlier or here is the link http://chooksscrap.blogspot.com/2008/10/k-werner-color-inspiration-25.html.

And for the colour challenge you needed to use this funky bedroom photo for inspiration. I didn't want to bore you with posting the same cards twice.

Makeesha and Gina's Challenges

I have been following some great blogs lately and gaining some inspiration from participating in their challenges. This is the first time I have played along with one of Makeesha's challenges. This is also my entry for Gina's colour challenge this month. I will post more about the inspiration for these colours at a later date when I post the sketch challenge cards. There never seems to be enough time lately so sometimes doubling up with the one card is the only way to go. I learnt this style of card through a Splitcoast Stampers tutorial (infact I still have the link http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/Joy_fold_card). They actually call them a Joy Fold card. I hope you like it.

Gina's September Challenges

Well Gina issued us with some more challenges for September. It was such a challenge for me that I couldn't even put anything together for her sketch challenge. After seeing the entries, I wonder why I was having so much trouble. The girls cards look great. I did however manage to contribute with the colour challenge. I made 2 new cards and had another I had already made that suited the colours that I gave to Gina to use if she was short on entries at all. So first is a picture for the inspiration and then my cards. Apologies again for my photographic skills. (Just doing an edit...forgot to mention the layout for the first card I made was inspired by something similar I saw in a stampin up catalogue. Don't want to be getting into any trouble).

Gina's August Challenges

That Gina is getting a bit tricky!!! Not only did she give us an unusual sketch challenge this month, she also through in the requirement to use a button in her colour challenge. This time I had a couple of attempts at the challenges. The "wild about you" card was done with the ever helpful Logan, to give her dad on Father's day (she wanted to use the animal stamps but I think we will do him up another card from the whole family). So here are my cards for your viewing pleasure (cough cough).

Gina gave us another colour and sketch challenge for the month of July. I must admit I found completing a card in just black and white for the colour challenge very difficult. I was very surprised to be the winner for the colour challenge for the month of June. It was the first challenge I had ever gone in and although there were only 4 cards to choose from, I was very humble to be the chosen one. Thanks Gina for my little prize of dazzling diamonds (a stampin up glitter product) and some other yummy treats. Gina has just advised us the winners for the July challenge below and I am very surprised to have won the colour challenge again, must be beginners luck!!! So here are my cards for the July challenges.

A Bit More About These Challenges

Now that I have the chance to sit down properly (the kids are resting), I will just explain the challenges a bit further. My lovely friend Gina, who is a Stampin' Up demonstrator, is largely responsible for getting me into making cards. Gina encouraged me to have a look at a great blog called K WERNER Design Blog, here is the link http://kwernerdesign.com/blog/color-inspiration/ who has colour challenges. Basically with a colour challenge you are given certain colours you need to use in making a card of your choice. There are no rules, you just need to use those colours. There are some fantastic cards made by contributors. Well worth a look.

Gina also has her own blogsite http://www.stampwithgina.blogspot.com/ and for the month of June she ran two challenges. A sketch challenge which requires you to make a card in a specific format and a colour challenge as well. That was the first challenge I had ever tried and my entry for both of those challenges are below. The images are scanned not photos however. I am still to read the manual for our camera!!!
